Harassment of Social Organizations in Florencio Varela

In Florencio Varela, Buenos Aires province, the Front of Organizations in Struggle (FOL) has reported a persistent harassment and persecution over the last three weeks. Unidentified individuals, in cars without license plates, are circling the child and youth space "El Escaramujo," conducting illegal interrogations of FOL members to obtain information about their activities.

According to the statement issued by FOL, a preventive Habeas Corpus has been decided upon as a protection measure, categorically rejecting any attempt at intimidation. The importance of neighborhood solidarity and organizations in the face of this situation is emphasized, insisting that no act of intimidation will stop their work and commitment to the community.

FOL states that, while they do not know the motivations of the perpetrators, these types of actions are part of a broader context of violence promoted by power sectors and the government against those seeking to improve living conditions and combat austerity policies. Reportedly, the harassed individuals have mentioned another cultural space in the district, suggesting intelligence and surveillance activities.

The child and youth space "El Escaramujo," with more than 20 years of experience, is directly affected by this persecution, jeopardizing its fundamental work of support and containment. FOL highlights the seriousness of these actions, comparing them to the worst episodes in the country's history and reiterates its commitment not to normalize, confront, and denounce them in all relevant areas.
